Goldilocks

Golddilocks
Locations in Southern California
Cerritos, Los Angeles, Eagle Rock, National City, Panorama, San Diego, Temecula, West Covina

Halo Halo! One of my favorites! contains ice slush, mixed fruits, seeds, beans, and topped with Taro ice cream, taro paste, condensed milk and sprinkle of rice krispy on top! Don't miss out on this when you come here!
Lumpiang Shanghai - Small, finger size Spring rolls filled with Shrimps, Meat, Garlic, and Spices, and deep fried to a crisp golden brown roll. It is served with a Sweet-sour sauce.
These smaller version of egg rolls are awesome! bite size and you just want to keep popping them in!

Pancit Palabok - White fine noodles topped with Palabok sauce and Sauteed pork, Vegetables, Spices, and garnished with Green onions, Boiled eggs, Flakes of smoked fish (tinapa), and Ground chicharon (fried pork rind).

This dish is always our all time favorite, great noodles, great flavor, must eat while its still warm! Between all the flakes of smoked fish and sauteed pork, blends in so well with the sauce and noodles.

Kare Kare - "Filipino Ox Tail Stew" - this special dish is made with ox tail, egg plants, string beans, veggies and beef tripes, beef stews, all cooked in a peanut sauce. Served with a small dish of shrimp paste. Meat is soft and tender, saucy, not as flavorful as it looks and dipped into a thick and salty shrimp paste, balances well with each other.

Soy Sauce soup Base #3 Spicy level.
Arite, so this place is FOOD Network famous! This noodle house aired on Man vs. Food recently and has brought many people to come try their food!
Here is the menu. I ended up getting the number 3 with Soy sauce Soup base. The reason I chose #3 is because I was actually hungry and wanted to made sure I don't suffer lol. I wanted to be able to eat it. Now I know I will be able to try #2 or #1 next time.
Anyone dare to try #1 or special spicy bowls? If you get Special #2, eat all the fiery noodles and are able to down the whole bowl of soup within 30 minutes, you get your picture on the wall!
There was a wait when we arrived, but the line moved rather quickly. Honestly, food wasn't bad, but are comparable to other competitors like Ajisen and a few others I like to eat near by the same area in L.A.

This is one of those restaurants, no matter what time you go, they serve great food for breakfast, lunch or dinner. I heard this place spent just about 1 million dollars remodeling a few years back and all I got to say is, its all worth it!
Vegetarian Egg White Omelet - This healthy omelet includes tomatoes, scallions, mushrooms and is topped with alfalfa sprouts. It is prepared with pure Canola oil and served with fresh fruit.

Breakfast Croissants - Spinach & Mushroom - A fresh baked croissant with Swiss cheese, spinach, mushrooms and mornay sauce.

This was a special roasted duck dish served over a flat harden piece of toast, topped with two sunny side up eggs and fresh fruits on the side. Great dish, although it was hearty for breakfast!

2009.06.25 Cheesecake Factory

Cheesecake Factory
Westfield Shopping Mall in Arcadia
(626) 447-2800

Ahi Carpaccio - Thin slices of raw ahi tuna, wasabi pesto, creamy avocado and togarashi aioli. This dish was on the sour side for me. Tangy, fresh tuna, crispy chips were a great compliment to go with it.
Fried Calamari - Served with garlic dip and cocktail sauce. Added some lemon juice on dipping sauce. This has been a dish we always get when we come here. Great crispy texture on the outside. Tender, chewable pieces of calamari inside, fresh, hot, tasty...always.

Pasta da Vinci - Sauteed chicken, mushrooms, onions and garlic in a delicious Madeira wine sauce tossed with penne pasta and Parmesan. The first bite of this dish was a surprise! It was lon the sweet tasting side and pasta was Al Dante, just the way I like it. Any more less cooked will be undercooked. Plenty of sauce, no fear of it running out. Excellent dish for the first time.

Cajun Jambalaya Pasta - Shrimp and chicken sauteed with onions, tomato and peppers in a very spicy cajun sauce. All served on top of fresh linguini. Flavor on this dish was surprisingly light to me. It was just a little bit of spicy, not even close to what I expected. I could have used more of a kick to this dish. Although I like dry noodles just as much as sauced pastas, this dish can be a bit too dry for someone who is used to saucy pastas.

30th Anniversary Chocolate Cake Cheesecake - Two layers of their original Cheesecake and two layers of Creamy Chocolate Fudge Cake filled with Chocolate cream and finished with crunchy pearls of chocolate.
Looks great, I only had a couple bites. Delicious.

Ice Coffee

Pad Thai with Tofu. Very flavorful, teaste, temperature, texture was excellent! Their Pad See Ew is also very good! In fact the menu has so many great items that always makes it hard to choose from!

Tom Yum Soup with Noodles and Shrimp - A bit spicy, sour, flavorful taste of lemongrass, fresh scent of cilantro. Great flat wide noodles. Another awesome dish.
This restaurant also does some GREAT lunch specials. Prices start around $6 to $10 for lunches, some includes soup, your entree, and even a hot dessert included! Can't beat that kind of deal for what kind of food you are getting. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are near the area!

Carnival World Buffet, Rio Hotel & Casino

Carnival World Buffet
Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino,
Las Vegas
Hours: Breakfast: Mon-Fri 7-11am;
Lunch: Mon-Fri 11am-3:30pm
Dinner: Nightly 3:30-10pm
Sat. & Sun. Champagne Brunch 8am - 3:30pm
Cost: $$Honestly, I don't go to Rio enough times to realize that they have a few other dining choices, including this buffet. I always ended up at their Village Seafood Buffet instead. Since this was a free meal, we tried it out!
The first thing that really surprised me was their wide selection of food that this buffet carries, hence the "world" buffet. Believe it or not, the first dish that I grabbed was the "dim sum", or the Chinese food that they offered, due to the fact that its been a few days now since my wife and I had Chinese food. On the picture you see that they have spring rolls, egg rolls, BBQ Pork bun, "Ha Gao", next to it was also a Turnip cake (although this one is somewhat breaded and more fried than the traditional version, it was pretty decent), Sesame sticky ball with red bean inside.
The center of the plate is Singapore Fried Rice Noodles.
The Asian section of the kitchen also had a dozen if not more of roasted ducks hanging behind a glass case. Picture above is more dim sum and siu mai, and I threw in a piece of Fried Chicken, haha.
Feel Free to click on pictures to see them up close!
As I wondered off to other sections or serving stations, there were popcorn shrimp, onion rings, fried fish, fried scallops, and many other selections that I passed. All of them were also pretty decent for a buffet. You also notice some assorted salmon cut rolls, and a few simple "sushi" dishes they do carry.
Here's another view
The next place I stumbled on was pizza, Cajun shrimp, pesto shrimp, spaghetti and meatballs, mussels, clams. phew! what a mix.
Of course, they also carry crab legs. As usual, they tend to be heavy on the salty side, BUT I do have to say, the crab flavor was also very noticeable, which makes it better. I have had all salty strands of meat before, but you couldn't tell that it was crab meat.
Tender, prime rib. Not as tender as Lawry's now, but not bad for all this other things in this whole dining experience!
Shrimp cocktails and more fried stuff.
Assorted desserts: I really enjoyed the cheese cake on the bottom left. The texture was fairly fluffy and wasn't too heavy, I was able to eat the whole thing without feeling being drowned in it. The top piece of cake tasted like a Red Velvet cake, with cream cheese on top. I also liked the fruit parfait they offered. A bit Tarty, perfect after a heavy meal.
Assorted chocolate desserts also! Actually, there were so much more to offer here, I never made it to even try more than 50 % of the items they carried.
Again, I would not have chose this restaurant to eat on my own, but I do have to say that for the price they charge, this is a great place if your party may be picky on certain types of food, since they do carry so many different things here that I wasn't even able to attempt to taste.
